Your website must be found in the search results for it to provide any value to your business marketing efforts. Just as before the Internet, savvy business owners would tell you that three of the most essential ingredients to a successful business is, location, location, location, it is also true in the area of search results.
Unfortunately, many small business owners think that building a website or having one built for them is the end of the process. They have forgotten something they probably decided upon, after much research, before they established their business. In the digital age, it is still very important to understand the importance of location, location and location. In this case, location refers to the position of your website in the search results.
If your customers could not find your store because roads were not clearly marked or you did not have access to the transportation links you require operating your business, would you be surprised to discover that your business was having difficulty? The same thing applies to the Internet; your website must be found in the search results, to produce any results.
Search Engine Optimization is the process that seeks to establish your website’s location in the search results and it is just as important as the physical location where you established your business.
I am not trying to explain in this article how you can implement search engine optimization for your business website; rather I am speaking to the importance of the process in establishing your relative location in the search results. I have written other articles and will continue to write new articles on how the small business owner can implement search engine optimization to improve their position or location in the search results.
Hopefully I have made my case for the small business owner to consider a search engine optimization campaign for their business website, to research the topic and either do it themselves or hire someone to implement it for them. Remember, it is all about those three essential ingredients: location, location and location.
